WHAT IS MESOLOGY?

Mesology is a concept in medical science mixing mainstream medicine (anatomy, pathology, neurology, physiology) supplemented with knowledge based on holistic healing.  This includes: Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM), Indian Ayur Veda (literally, “knowledge of life”), Orthomolecular cures, Homeopathy, Herbalism and physiotherapy.

The name Mesology refers to the mesoderm or connective tissue.  Here the body has reactive sites that ensure that it is in balance with itself and the surrounding environment.

Within the diagnosis both mainstream and complimentary holistic investigation techniques are used to form a unique patient profile.

Every person is unique and therefore has individual experiences—distinctive interactions with his or her surroundings (nutrition, weather conditions, work and social surroundings et al.)  Every person, organ and cell aims toward an optimal balance.  As long as we are healthy, we are in our own “personal balance.” Sometimes we experience circumstances that throw us off balance, causing health dysfunctions to develop.

RESEARCH METHODS

In order to detect physiological dysfunctions, Mesology treatment involves various techniques:

Electro Physiological Diagnostics (EPD) measures the condition of various organs via acupuncture points on different meridians. A meridian is an energetic connection between varying acupuncture points where energy from the internal body is detectable.
The measuring machine that a Mesologist uses has a weak electrical current that is physically undetectable by the patient. Acupuncture’s energetic properties are then translated into a measureable value. Results also involve testing various herbs, vitamins, minerals and homeopathic compounds to see which substance enhances a particular organ’s energy. Organs showing an appropriate value function ideally.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a centuries old Chinese healing practice involving the body’s equilibrium—achieving results by optimizing organ synergy, finding the patient’s internal balance (yin/yang) and keeping a healthy energy flow (Qi).
Mesology treats irregularities in yin/yang balance with dietary advice. Furthermore, a Mesologist supports the formation and functionality of Qi, supporting organ health with herbs, diet, vitamins, minerals and homeopathy.

Ayur Veda literally translates to knowledge of life. Every human has a unique energy composition beginning at birth. As the years pass this personal energy can be interrupted or altered causing possible corporal dysfunctions. Mesology determines ones birth constitution and accompanying energy condition by measuring these two factors. Ayurvedic herbs, vitamins, minerals and dietary advice can then be used, if needed, to optimize energy levels.

Homeopathy is a therapy that works by giving a specific incentive to the body’s self-curing ability, reacting accurately to a specific complaint. Mesology tests homeopathic remedies via EPD to decide if a particular self-healing possibility is supportable.

Orthomolecular treatment uses nutrition and eating patterns to maximize potential essential nutrients, bringing the body in balance. Mesology determines, using EPD, if vitamin, mineral, trace element or amino acid deficiencies are present. Using this technique supplements can be recommended unique to your case.

WHEN SHOULD I CONSULT A MESOLOGIST?

You can consult a Mesologist for a variety of physical complaints, including:

Digestive problems

Stomach, liver and intestinal complaints such as: stomach pain, heartburn, bloating, constipation, hemorrhoids, nausea, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic worm infections, food allergies et al.

Recurring infections

Ear infections, bladder infections, rheumatic complaints, sinus infections, colds

Muscle and joint pain

Rheumatoid arthritis, stiff joints, Fibromyalgia, back pain, muscle pain etc.

General physical complaints

Headaches, migraines, exhaustion, lowered immune system, allergies, tinnitus

Hormonal induced problems

Thyroid issues, menstruation problems, menopause, infertility

Skin problems

Eczema, psoriasis, acne, dry skin, itchy skin, hives

The mesologist mainly treats chronic disorders or misunderstood health complaints. Mesology is certainly also used preventively (APK). A mesologist is not competent for acute complaints.

REGISTRATION

There is a Dutch Registration Organization for Mesology (NRM) and a professional organization: the Dutch Mesology Organization (NVVM).
These bodies regulate disciplinary law, the complaint procedure professional ethics.

As a Mesology practitioner I followed a five-year program at the Academy of Mesology.
Mesology is a select profession: the Mesologist earns the right to practice and teach via a strict set of professional guidelines.
